Our social worker let us know that she received approval for our home study from DCFS today, so now it's off to USCIS. We are excited to have made some progress, but we are thinking and praying hard about whether or not to stay with Vietnam.
My prayers for discernment are with you in the arduous decision. Would you be willing to post about why you are thinking about not continuing through Vietnam? Just curious.
Hi Isaac! Thanks for your prayers! The reason we are most likely going to switch is because the agreement that keeps adoptions going between the US & Vietnam (the MOU)is due to expire September 1. There has been no official word on whether or not they will continue placing children with families who have dossiers in country by then. Most agencies are not accepting applications for Vietnam right now, and it's a big risk to send a dossier over there right now, with there being no guarantees. Things have really slowed down in Vietnam too recently, as the US is doing more investigations on babies that are being referred. Some families who were supposed to travel in November to pick up their child are still waiting on approval from the US. We're hoping and praying that adoptions will continue, but feel that it's not a stable program for us to start in at this time.
We are blessed to have grown our family through both birth and adoption. This blog follows our journey to bringing our daughter home from China in August 2010.
Feel free to visit our family blog, which is being updated regularly.
